EGR Pipe got my harness..

Well, it looks like its my turn. I've read about it happening to others but never to our rig. I've always made sure i keep an eye on it and today i noticed that the EGR pipe is starting to melt my wire harness. Dont think anything has happened to the actual wires inside yet.. but soon it will. Needless to say the harness is getting torn apart and replaced or wrapped before i drive it much longer. Sucks, cause it looks like a real PITA to get too. May just drop it off at ToyotaMasters and have them get mad at me instead lol

Let the fun begin :(

Thank god i check my rig out once a week and mine didn't look like this.. http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-te...e-harness.html

I feel for you!

Mr. Sucky......of "Mr. Sucky's Pretend Engine Rebuild Shop".........

Melted my Tranny Kick Down Cable because after multiple engine swaps.........he let the cable sit on my Downey Header.....Which melted the plastic, which froze onto the cable....which made me unhook the kick down so I could at least drive home.....which caused me to spend $100 on a new Toyota kick down cable plus labor to remove the tranny pan.............

====== $400.................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CPG, thanks for the pics man! That helps visualize bigtime what needs to happen. What did you use to wrap it? Just red electrical tape?

I had something similar I recently found on my '89 Bronco. The EGR pipe cooked the plug wires for the first two cylinders. The wires cracked and were arcing to the tube. When I replaced the plug wires I routed them as far away as possible but a heat shield would be nice...

A layer of this. http://www.rescuetape.com/
Then a layer of header wrap.
Then another layer of rescue tape.
It will not come undone like electrical tape.
