I will be camping and spending the 4th of July at El Golfo Sonora it is only an easy 1.5 hours from Yuma Az .
Meeting time should be 11:00am to 12:00pm at Yuma Az
This is you chance in practising your driving skills in deep sand, we will drive from El Golfo to half way to Rocky Point on the beach and make camp, staying away from the crowds, temperatures should be in the 90's and lows should be low 70's. Water temperature should be in the high 70's

I will be returning early morning on Sunday crossing over to Puerto Penasco having lunch and then crossing back at the Lukeville crossing!

Anybody interested please advice!

Here is a link to some pictures of the area!

We plan to go to El Golfo to eat some shrimp tacos, then we will drive the new hwy to El Tornillal we will camp in the area by the beach, close to the cliffs and will spend some time snorkeling. On Sunday morning I plan to drive to Lands end or Shell Beach and look for some sand dollars, will continue north by the Salt Flats/Mud Flats and let's see were the new pavement starts again, this should be an easy drive to Puerto Penasco, will possibly make a stop in Penasco for a late breakfast or lunch and then cross back at Lukeville!

Here is a link to the progress on the hwy!

Weather should be great, also at El Golfo will be busy and noisy so I am trying to stay away from the crows!

I believe our plans are to start in Puerto and head west towards El Golfo via the new pavement and then offroad to the beach. Its a loose plan, but we'll be westbound as you come eastbound.
We'll be leaving Thurs morning from AZ, half a day in the Sierra Pinacates and then Puerto P and west, return through Puerto P and Lukeville Sunday afternoon/early evening.

Meet you along the trail?

My vehicle is ready and almost loaded to have a great camping trip on the beach, also the temperatures seem to be almost perfect with low 90's and low 70's.

Hey,
We must have missed you somewhere in the mix. We spent a day by the fishing camp Los Pinitos (by the cliffs), and then two days by another fishing camp Alamovardo (spelling is way off as I don't have my GPS handy).

Got stuck twice, but didn't take any Oops pics...

Enjoyed the fireworks fr. El Golfo, the lightning and brief nighttime sprinkles.

My favorite part was the dune blowing across the road (Mex 003) just coming into El Golfo. That road will take a lot of maint. once they finish it.

Tried to make sense of the developing road, and couldn't figure the one that headed N/NW towards the Gran Desierto.

Sorry we missed you! Kept searching for an exped. ready rig. Only saw the local crowd.

I guess i was just next to your camp site since we were just next to Los Pinitos, as far as getting stuck, I am glad i did not get stuck since the road from Puerto Penasco to El Golfo has 3 sections of very deep sand, but my tires at 15ps can handle the deep sand easy...:wings:
