No it is time to take it all apart, weld in new metal and prep for rust proofing then bed liner. We also added some slide on hinge pins for some tables we were making. Took special precaution to NOT paint or coat the pins themselves. I also welded up the holes for the external tarp tie down hooks as it came with originally. With the lid they were completely useless and just made for more stainless hardware that had to be dealt with or scratched your arm on when reaching in the tub.

So we used the Monstaliner brand primer called Chassis saver. Per their instruction we went with the silver due to not being able to get to every facet on the trailer that had a hint of rust. Here is their verbiage:

UCP934 Silver-Aluminum – Used as a primer under any colored industrial or automotive grade enamel topcoat or under Chassis Saver gloss or antique-satin black. Heavily filled with over two pounds per gallon of flake aluminum to help smooth and fill pits and deeper rust damage. Interleaving flake creates an incredibly dense barrier to prevent moisture permeation. Commonly used for marine barge and oil field maintenance. Great for industrial equipment, metal roofs, steel truck rims and to rejuvenate tired, rusted old chain link fence.

Turned out pretty good I think. Looked like the silver surfer when it was done though! Of course this was the primer not the final coat. We opted for gray exterior and white interior (better night visibility with the lights that were added).

After we got the lid, tub, repairs and rusted areas coated with Chassis Saver, it was time for bed lining it. Again, we opted for Monstaliner as it had great reviews, gets very hard, is repairable and did not break the bank. If we wanted to change the color, simply scuff with #400 and then re-coat over it. Takes 2 coats and this and the Chassis saver is messy. For solvent for both we got M.E.K. (for bedliner) and Xylene (for Chassis Saver) as I did not buy their branded stuff that was they same.

Here are some photos of the trailer post build with the propane tank added and the awning after we got it installed. It will be up for sale in the next few hours. This was a fun build buy we got a "new to us" SoCal Krawler 459 and Elvis needs a new home.
