Engel fridge parts

I recently fubar'd my engel 45 fridge here in Oman by messing up and plugging it into 220v rather than 110 volts.

I contacted engel europe and received no replies to my request for support

then contacted Engel Aus who cc'd europe.....europe still did not reply

Aus finally sent through a quote for the part $200 USD plus shipping for a new power supply.

I've since taken apart my powersupply and found two main boards, the fridge control board and a single board for
converting 110V ac to 12volts DC.

Engel confirmed they cannot supply any autoswitching or dual AC power supplies.

So what to do next- as $200 is a third of the price of a new fridge...

Anyone know the company "power source" as its the name on the ac/dc power supply board ?

I'll be dropping it off at the local TV repair place later as visually and after a quick check, fuse is good but the main on board capacitor is blown

I've tried googling the company but have not found it.

So right now I'm planning to either repair the broken board,
obtain a replacement from the original supplier
or upgrade and modify the fridge for use with an auto switching mains power supply.

Q anyone have a laptop power supply that gives out 12 volts ? 150W or bigger

Any electronic whiz kids see any issues in using one of these ?

I have one of these...It's been to Africa, Fiji, Central America, Rarotonga, and Tahiti and never missed a beat. I used it to run a 100watt ham radio and it didn't care what voltage it saw.

exactly the thing I'm concidering

Engel refused to supply just the board thats broken, they will only supply the whole powersupply.

and I still end up with a single voltage fridge..

so the board was dropped of to the local indian TV fixer to see what he can do with the board

Meanwhile I'm rumaging around at work for a loose 12V output universal input adapter

My experience around this part of the world is that you may be surprised what the Indian TV repair guy can pull off. =)

The board is back, just have not had time to test it yet

if not then plan B the exterior power supply will come into effect..

as a note a nice friendly person here on the site alot

Contacted Engel USA.................$ 350 was the quoted price

So make notes Engel fridges are now to be classed as disposable items when broken...like cd players, in the trash

ie 1 part being 1/2 the cost of a new fridge

National Luna may be getting my next $$$
