Oh yeah there is fuel rail too. I sent my injectors for rebuild/flow since it was good opportunity. There was about 1-2% variation on flow chart.

@Michael Brown & Monty You guys rock. Thanks so much for the info and the links. That is super helpful. Luckily I picked up the 2001 FSM about 2 weeks ago at used book store here.... $37 for all 4 books. :wings:

You followed me, so now we're both lost

No problem. You can get PDF versions for anything else you can't find using the link in my signature. Hopefully you find the problem.

I had the same issue with that o-ring. Replaced t-belt and everything else on the motor a little over a year ago. A couple of months ago I started noticing I was losing coolant and couldnt figure out where. Then I saw the puddle in the V. As much as I dreaded taking the top off again it wasnt that big of a deal. I had already done valve cover gaskets, rear cam/cam sensor seal, plugs/wires, knock sensor about 5 months ago, so it was just a quick R and R to fix the leak. I removed the tube, put grey RTV on the o-ring and let it sit overnight. It has been leak free for 2 weeks now.

So... I bought an infrared temp gauge to check the actual temp (mine does the same thing most people temp gauges do) while waiting for the o-rings for the pipe. I can't get a super hot reading anywhere..

The hottest reading I got was 218 on the actual pipe running out of the back of the water pump. Everything else is in the 160-190 range. However, when I shut the engine down after checking in multiple places, she was hissing near the water outlet fitting and the overflow tank was boiling.

So with that said, I can't imagine a small slow leak in the valley would cause it to run hot like this? The thermostat is fine. I don't seem to have air in the system, but I am wondering if maybe there is a blockage somewhere.

Thoughts?

Could that "boiling sound" in the overflow tank be the air coming out of radiator ? rather than engine actually running super hot.
Ex: you lose coolant somewhere, air gets in, comes out to overflow tank and you hear the "boiling".

Do you lose coolant from overflow tank at all ?

Also besides valley, I would check the T joint under the car I mentioned before.
That thing is made of plastic and I wouldn't be surprise if there is a leak or crack.
Just i case :)

Hey Monty.... No loss of coolant from the overflow tank. I will check that T joint under the car. Man... I really don't feel like taking the top of the motor off to repair this. LOL
