What does everyone carry? Actually use and why? Low budget approach.

I did not include an actual winch, redneck winch or the flip-flop winch

I always carry a unijack and trac-grabbers XL in the truck. For $40 or less shipped the unijack is the most versatile, safest and safest to deploy jacking device in the trail. Trac grabbers have saved me hours if not days of shoveling when I made less than wise snow, mud and sand decisions.

did you find the trac grabber any good? it looks like they need alot of clearance around the tires to work. i am gunna follow this thread as im trying to decide what low budget gear i wanna carry

CanucksRedRocket,

I like trac grabbers. I have a detroit locker in the rear and run a set of four two on each of the rear wheels. I have not used them in snow but they are pretty amazing in mud and sand. Only need about an inch of clearance and as long as you do not spin the tires out of control they will get you out slow and steady from just about any situation faster than a winch. I used to run 4wd chains for really sketchy mud however the trac grabbers are way faster to deploy and remove.

I will try and get a video of them in the sand, snow or mud in the next few weeks.
