Of the few pictures I took, here are a couple of the better ones.

1. Brian, showing off his underside (pre counterweight)
2. The counterweights...
3. Pasquale & Kristina in their super sweet 80, and Vince's extra comfy taco.
4. Chris doing what it takes to get great photos.

A Happy Ending!

Finally have the truck back from the dealer after my Trophy carnage in Arizona :wings:
A new carrier assy would have cost me upwards of $1,400. Toyota warranty rocks!
It was good to get it back, and it drives so quiet now with a full set of teeth... :smiley_drive:

I now have a nice, new MADE IN JAPAN differential :shakin:

Looks like I missed a great time on the trail with you all!!!

So Dave, were the troublesmome Tacoma diffs American sourced, or otherwise?

Start thread hijack.

Good question. I have heard rumors of the "bad batch" of gears 05's are infamous for being from Mexico but I dont believe it. I have also heard that some Toyota axle components are sourced from Dana. All 05 and up diffs I've looked at have similar markings complete with kanji. As far as I know the engines, trannies, and drivetrain components are all from Japan. The rest (body, bed, interior, wiring, etc) is sourced in North America and assembled at NUMMI here in Fremont, CA

The only way to get a 100% Japanese 4WD Toyota nowadays is to buy a new FJ, or the big $$ Land Cruiser...
Or a classic like Ed's.

End thread hijack.

Wow when Scott Brady commented that I have a stiff suspension he was not kidding! There is hardly any articulation there, my front axle is practically straight parallel with the body of the vehicle!!

Maybe I should finally install those swaybar disconnects I have. ;)

And maybe some softer springs,, someday....

Nice photos :jump: What a cool truck. Dave, I am bummed out that I didn't get the chance to check out your truck in detail before you left. That means you will have to get together with us again.

Thanks again for the books!

Tell Nori we say HI :wavey: (sorry if I misspelled her name).
