Experience With Preparing ISUZU NPS Camper: Running Gear

OK finally have one last modification to report: long range fuel tank.

The modification was done by Ric Black at Out of Town 4WD near Newcastle.

Let me say at the outset I have been very careful not to recommend people who have done work on this truck as I do not think we want the forum to become an advertising board however in the case of Long Ranger Tanks (http://thelongranger.com.au) also known as Out of Town 4WD (http://oot4wd.com.au/) I am going to make an exception:

Ric and the crew are without a doubt the most professional and experienced group of craftsmen I have come across! They combine that expertise with serious off road knowledge and experience of 4WD requirements. This is an old style family business with no peer

In just 2 days Ric completely designed and fitted a custom 300l fuel tank for the ISUZU NPS. I am not going to give away any secrets but the exterior of the tank is only one feature, the innards of the tank and extra features I had not even thought of were just extraordinary.

IMG_20160712_064813434[1].jpg The long range tank fitted into the chassis rail with good ground and side clearance.

IMG_20160712_064818292[1].jpg The fuel filler and breathers are 1.5m high and tucked out of the way.

Not only did they make and fit the tank in just 2 days but they also completely redesigned an manufactured a 4 battery carrier. Both of these have just been pounded across 7000+km of the Capes hardest roads with no problems.

Now I am not going to tell u the price but it was half what I was expecting!

If u have any tank (or other) requirements I would suggest you contact Ric at http://thelongranger.com.au.

No not yet! Have only found one to do it in WA and will have it done when we get there as this stuff is a real PITA :)
There is a guy in Kalgoolie who does it. I was sitting in the work NPS, on the phone and he handed me his card.

OK we have finally managed to move the air filter up out of the water! Its now about 1.5m high.

HOWEVER THIS WAS ONE OF THE MOST TROUBLESOME MODS WE HAVE DONE! IT ENDED UP COSTING >$4000!!

THIS IS NOT JUST THE LOGISTICS OF MOVING BUT ELECTRONICALLY/COMPUTER WISE SO BEWARE: DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOU REALLY (and I mean really!) UNDERSTAND THE TRUCKS COMPUTER SYSTEM (or have had both the EGR and DPD disabled).

Can you elaborate on some of the technical problems with raising the air cleaner, I think there are a few interested parties!
