For years, EarthCruisers were one of those cool trucks that only the Australians had. Now, located in Bend Oregon, EarthCruiser Overland Vehicles are available to the United States and just about anywhere else in the world!

In 2008 Lance Gillies and a friend were looking for a vehicle to travel the world in. Finding nothing suitable they built their own and called it EarthCruiser.

Using years of off 4x4 road and motor body building experience in Australia they designed and developed an extremely competent and comfortable vehicle for the no road adventure experience. Built on popular rugged 4x4 chassis, the EarthCruiser is designed to live off the grid. It has two sources of fuel, solar and diesel and can pump water from any source into the tanks. With onboard water purification system drinking water is never a problem. The ‘home’ is moulded fiberglass much like a sailboat, easily cleaned and maintained yet super strong. With a pop up roof that allows for a 360 degree view an EarthCruiser can fit into a shipping container to travel the world.

With the goal of being able to go anywhere and stay comfortably an EarthCruiser has been designed with redundant systems so repairs are easily made ‘on the fly’ if necessary. EarthCruisers have no ‘bits’ on the roof or sides to be torn off by narrow scrubby trails and everything is automated so there is no heavy lifting involved.

The overland travel mode of experience is definitely taking off around the world and in 2011 Lance moved the left hand drive and export EarthCruiser business to the US. Two years of cold weather R&D later the first US built EarthCruisers are now leaving our facility in Bend OR.

EarthCruiser owners are an active bunch. All of them share the same philosophy—they don’t tell you where they’re going they’ll only tell you where they’ve been. They’re mostly couples who value the ability to go where others can’t. Many of them bought their EarthCruisers to travel not only in the US and Australia but also to send to other parts of the globe. We currently have EarthCruisers travelling in South America, Europe and Asia. We’re exporting EarthCruisers from Bend OR to Mongolia where there aren’t many roads! Some of our original customers virtually live in their EarthCruisers in the Australian outback as their professions require them to be completely self sufficient in tough conditions.
