Since we don't have our own section like the cruiser guys I'm gonna steal this idea and use it here. (Maybe other truck styles will too...):costumed-smiley-007

So basically if you have a 3rd Gen 4Runner and you wanna share it here on the ExPo copy, paste and answer these simple questions, post a couple photos, etc! Hopefully this catches on and we can have a place for 3rd Gen 4Runners all in one place.

One and only. Had her about 5 years now.

Other option was a Tacoma but for basically the same truck they were $4-5k more.

It is small and nimble, just right for going lots of places.

Purchased in 2005. I previously had an 87 Toyota Xtra Cab pickup and a 94 Toyota Xtra Cab pickup.

4. What made you decide to buy a 3rd Gen over what other options you might have been considering...
Dependability, aftermarket support, factory locking diff, still awesome looking even after all these years.

5. Mileage at date of purchase and present mileage...
55,000 mi at purchase; <200k now. Does anything less than 300k even count?

6. Your favorite mods...
Suspension mods, supercharger and lighting mods.

7. What do you love most about being a 3rd Gen owner...
I think it's the best generation 4Runner ever made. Last model run with a manual transmission and the vehicle isn't controlled by 35 different ECUs, making it a great long-long term vehicle. It weighs 850+ pounds less than current gens and isn't too big in size.

4WD trips, towing, hauling outdoor gear, family fun.

We call the truck the "Sierra Eventually", as opposed to my WRX with is the "Sierra Express".

Purchased in 2009.

My 1996 ZJ was breaking down monthly and I wanted something more reliable.

Purchased with 82k miles in 2009, now at about 116k miles.

LED light in the hatch, cargo drawer.

It's capable enough for the trails I run, very reliable, and easy to work on.

Manly used for camping/offroad trips and moving large items.

I was looking for a 4runner or a Taco. This was available, the price was right and it's super clean for my area.

I had an 87 4Runner before this and fell in love with the heritage of the model.

89,000 at purchase, 180,000 currently

Supercharger, ICON Stage 5 Suspension, CBI Bumpers, Custom Roof Rack, CVT Tent

I love the size and the overall styling. I think it's a truly timeless design. It turns a lot of heads for a 16 year old SUV.

I drive it on road trips (on or offroad) as I find it fun to drive, and comfortable. Other than that it occasionally sees daily driving duties, and expedition duties.

Since spring 2013

4. What made you decide to buy a 3rd Gen over what other options you might have been considering...
I needed a project after selling my STi and needed something that can haul materials. Perfect size for this area, great price compared to G1 Tacoma for this area, friend(s) have had them and absolutely neglected them and they run forever, timeless looks, good capability while driving well on the highway.

I think around 63k, now around 78k. Mind you we bought/remodeled a house during this era, I have a DD/work car w/ "free" gas, and my wife has a TSX that is much better on road trips.

Sliders and lift

For being a lifted truck it drives very nicely, looks great, don't have to worry too much about it leaving us stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Around 2 years, this is my first Toyota

Hard to beat for the price. Reliability, looks, aftermarket support, etc. Relatively roomy for its size (I came from a 1999 XJ)
