As long as there is no rust everything else is just icing on the cake! All the mechanical stuff my dad mentioned can be fixed quite pleasantly, but the salt on the roads is the ultimate killer.
Open all the doors and tailgate to examine the pinch welds at the bottom. Look inside the rear quarters (the cardboard trim pops of the inside very easily) Check the back of the inner frame rails where it is an open channel and check the rear shock mount tube. The mechanical stuff is brilliantly simple to work on and the maintenance will be a given no matter what shape it is in, so just look for rust!
Where is the truck? There may be a 3FEer close by who could take a look at it, I my self will be in north central Jersey next month if you need an extra set of eyes.
John Hocker @ Sierra Toyota for parts he is a 3FEer and the 3FE list for tech info, not as easy to navigate as Mud, but the right info is there.
cheers,
Kevin R.
