Holiday season is almost here, and that means its time our annual family Christmas trip! Last year my wife, our 6 month old daughter, and I went to Big Bend National Park for 2 weeks and it was a blast! This year we are planning to go to the Florida Keys! Our daughter will be 1.5 and will do a lot less sleeping in the car, so we are trying to keep our daily driving down. We will be driving with our pop up camper and staying in the camper and hotels 50/50. So far, here is our schedule:

Sat Dec 21: Leave Birmingham Al, travel to Apalachicola Fl Area (about 300miles, about 5 hours)
Sun Dec 22: Leave Appalachicola Area travel to Cedar Key (about 200miles, 4 hours)
Mon Dec 23: Leave Cedar Key travel to Crystal River (60 miles, 1 hour)
Tue Dec 24: Leave Crystal River travel to Naples (250miles, 4 hours)
Wed Dec 25: Leave Naples, travel to Key Largo (150 miles, 3 hours)
Thurs Dec 26-Jan 1: keys keys keys...
Jan 2: Start Driving Back to Birmingham AL (have till the 5th to get home)

I would love to hear some recommendations for places to stay, places to see and kid friendly things to do in the Florida Keys!

This is what our setup looks like (from last year in Big Bend):

We just did a trip with our twins (1 yr). We stayed all hotels, but I recommend Hawk's Caye on Duck Key. They have a great kids area. I know this is a little late, but I just found this forum! HTH.
