Ford E350 van MG 4WD conversion kit

Hello all,

I orignall posted this in Domestic full size expedition vehicles, but I had someone suggest I post it here.

I am preparing to convert my 2009 Ford E350 12 passenger van to 4WD. I am looking at the MG kit offered at expovans.com.

One question I have is that the control arm brackets look like they are going to interfere with the cross member that supports the transmission (I have the 5.4 liter V8 with 4R75 transmission). I saw another post on this forum from a few years back that said that he created a modified bracket to solve that problem, but I didn't see any details.

Was it the cross member that gets modified, or the control arm mounting bracket? If any of you have pictures of this setup, I would be much appreciative if you would share them. Thank you.

There’s a long knowledge share about the MG DIY kit over on the Sportsmobile forum. You might find what you’re looking for there.

I cut and bend the crossmember and bolted it to the MG brackets. It was a temporary fix. I was supposed to fabricate something more elaborate but two and a half years a lots of off-roading that a van has no business doing and still works. 1599759129619.png

Thanks for the input guys.

I'll check out the thread over on the sportsmobile forum.

Raul,
are you attaching the crossmember using the pivot bolt?

So looking through one of the sticky threads over on the sportsmobile forum, it looks like the solution is to modify a cross member from one of the bigger engines like the V10...
