FOUND Vans For Sale!

Gonna try to go look at this one today after work. I just sold my cummins to fund a van purchase and don't really know much about the powerstrokes. What should I look for? I'm a little apprehensive about a 20 year old rig. I talked to the seller and he picked it up at auction. Sounds like it was a fleet rig for the BPA. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I saw that the other day. That looks like a clean van and a great candidate for a camper build. It's pre-OBDII, so some of the power train tuning options might not be available. All that said, I'd guess his list price would be a tidy profit.

I went and looked at the 94 Ford Powerstroke tonight. It's really clean. I wanted to drive it on the freeway but rush hour traffic was bumper to bumper so I'm going back to drive it. Depending on how much I can get him down on the price I might go for it. It's a good candidate for a camper build and looks like it is in really good shape. The Advanced conversion looked really solid. The biggest thing eating at me is that it's a 20 year old van. But I think I can get past that.

Well, the miles are good and it looks excellent. Take it in for a look by a good diesel guy. Get a full review.

I posted this in the for sale section but since this is the real place for van people I thought maybe I wouldn't be the only one to appreciate this one.

It's a one owner, 1987 VW Syncro Get-Away van (high top) selling for what seems (for these anyway!) to be a very decent price especially once you convert it to US $...

If I didn't have so many project and toys I'd be tempted!

While I'm not a powerstroke guy after hunting for my gas 4x4 van for 3 months, 19 seems kinda high for a 94.

'94 is probably not a Powerstroke, more than likely an IDI. 19K is really high, but 7.3 with that low of mileage and rust free are very hard to find. I let a $6K 7.3 4x4 RB w/ 160K miles window van pass by when I first started looking because it was an RB, I need the space and couldn't justify it. Little did I know just how good a deal that was.

I agree with Shocker, at that price point unless you know diesels take it to a diesel mechanic who can do a leakdown and compression test, etc.

Having said all that, if it is what you want and you have the extra $ do it, as all of us will agree there is not much that can replace the fun and excitement of a van build. (Well maybe not our wives but you get the idea.) ;)

You are correct. Looks like it's an IDI. I had some time to dig around last night and came across a Ford site where you can run the VIN and it's not a Powerstroke. So my understanding is that it's not even a turbo. I think I'm still going to drive it. I want to see how sluggish it is w/o the turbo. I agree that the price is high. I had never intended to pay the asking price. The seller is a broker and I'm betting he does't know the difference between a PS and an IDI and thinks he has a Powerstroke. I know I thought it was a Powerstroke. Other than that, It's a nice van.
