1997 Ford E350, extended window van, hi top w/ raised rear doors, 5.4 v8, 183k miles, front seats only. Decent project starting point.

its really varies on how you drive it. strictly around town isn't that great...8 to 10mpg. all highway at reasonable speeds 55 to 65mph it gets 13 to 16mpg. averaging about 70mph on the highway it starts to drop off again. empty or loaded highway mileage is the same, its doesn't seem to care. the 6.0L pretty much flattens out any hill you come across, it has plenty of power.

oh man that bad? i was expecting 13 around town, and 17 or 18 highway

Good luck finding that economy on a full size van. I get 16-18 mpg on the highway with my E150 4.2 v6 and 13 around town. Over all mpg 15.5. I would trade a loss of 2 mpg for the power!
