Yes bri it is a circle so technically could be done in any direction. Just need to decide fast for lodging reservations otherwise we are going to have to camp

Just guessing you did not go at the end of May on a year where we have had the most moisture in May for a very long time. It has not stopped raining or snowing for weeks now.

Correct. I went in August. My research indicated this was the best time to go.

So we decided to flip the trip around.
Only one night in Grand Canyon (31st of May) then 5 in Moab, one in Denver and we'll end on Ouray from the 7th at night until the 12th early morning which will mark the start of our return to Albuquerque.
Maybe the weather will improve in the mean time and more trails in the San Juans will be open.
Ouray will be totally new for me and my friend Ian being from the Northeast will be discovering everything.
We will be posting pictures and comments on this same thread.

I'd reconsider 6-8 hours each way for one night in Denver.
