To start I am absolutely against this, I barely got the wife's approval to take our two kids in my 40, but with another baby on the way the 40 wont get the attention it deserves. I need a nice 80 with under 200k on the clock. Obviously lockers, ARB bumpers, 3rd row seats, and a nice lift/tires would be optimal but not mandatory.
I picked up this 40 last year and did a pretty solid refresh, build thread is here http://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/583242-72-black-tan-40-build.html its a 9/71 with a 73 F.5 3 speed tranny and 3 speed TC. crane cams XR700 ignition, brand new trollhole carb, and new stock exhaust all the way back. I put this drive train in about six months ago and it has run great from day one, it does have a slight seep from the rear main as well as a seep from the parking brake. I just picked up a rebuilt F.5 SM420 3s TC combo and planned to swap them out prior to getting the good news about the baby. If you want it, it comes with it, and if the 80 offered is nice enough I'll do the swap for you. current setup cruises at 55-60 all day long and I drive it to school three days a week 20 miles each way with out issue.
Body has its share of filler, wheel wells were cut pretty well, its definitely a five footer and not a trailer queen, flat khaki paint job makes for easy touch ups. floors look good with no holes or rot, I planned to reskin the rear quarters and wheel wells some where in the way distant future but just had too much damn fun driving to take it down that long.
has five brand new stock steel rims and five brand new 33x10.5x15 BFM MT KM2 tires with 200 miles on them. paki top and bows are from Ehsan and in good shape. new steel gas tank and dash pad covers as well as new front fenders.
I just put a front bench in from a 70' that is grey and could use a new cover as the PO burnt a quarter sized hole in the passenger seat. I still have the aftermarket buckets as well if you would rather have those. they just sat too high for my 6' frame. Metaltech cage is the full family style with frame tie ins front and rear as well as hip guards that haven't been installed yet. has long jump seats that are in great shape.
under carriage was done by the PO, looks to be POR-15'd frame and axles, he said they were all rebuilt but i've learned not to believe a word he said. they dont leak and the drums all work great. all new brake lines as well as MC, new clutch MC as well. brand new 4" Rough Country lift with stock length anti-inversion shackles

It serves beach duty every weekend without complaint

all new emblems, mirrors, and lights all round add up fast...

i guess the PO couldn't decide what style mirror he wanted so he drilled a bunch of holes in the driver side door... need to fill those. this shot shows 1" shackles that were too high for my taste and removed.

It seems like I was in the home stretch of this refresh when my wife said two kids + baby = 80 not 40
I would hate to add up what I have into this but I would say north of $15k. Obviously it will never sell for that, but if I had to sell out right I would start at $12k with all spares etc. I would much rather trade up or down or with cash for a comparable 80. any specific questions or pictures just ask. what you got?
