Future planning for new 3.4L engine in my tacoma.

I bought a factory 22R short block, but it's been several years ago now. Made in Japan. I went with an Engrbldr (Topline) head. I think you are correct that they don't sell complete engines, but you can AFAIK get each of the major assemblies independently and put it together. But my memory is that there is/was a long block part number but couldn't tell you availability.

I didn't inquire about a long block, was looking for a crate engine. Might swing by the dealer out of curiosity about the long block.

Look into to getting a good solid junkyard motor. I went that route after dropping a valve and cracking the jug. I stripped it down to nothing had everything hot tanked. Everything was well within spec so I had the heads rebuilt, crank polished, pistons blasted, decked the heads and block. after all said and done I pretty much had a brand new motor for around a total of $1600. I took my time and reassembled everything myself, was a great learning experience. Found the FSM and got all the info I needed.

Buy a used, low mileage motor, with a warranty and call it a day.

I've got a 2000 4x4 with 211,000 on the clock. Engine still runs strong, going to need to replace it at some point though. Currently i need a new steering rack, power steering pump and brakes front and rear. This is gonna add up

I bought my replacement rack for Safri LTD! Over 60,000 miles on it!
