FZJ80 Project update

With this being my busy season at the shop, I was finally able to spend some quality time with my 80 today. Let me say this, with all the seats out, the inside of this thing is HUGE! The hatch opening is actually 3 inches taller than my 05 Tundra Double Cab with a topper.

last week I layed out what I wanted for my interior drawer/sleeping/bike rack set-up and cut out the foundation.

This is my "CAD" drawing. That's Cardboard aided Design.

The foundation with my MTB.

You need to check with your road bike too. The bar, stem, and brake lever set-up extend several inches further foward than the MTB.

More to come.

Today I got out the router and started making some dust

The walls go up:

The view from the rear passenger door. I'm thinking about making this a hinged lid because a drawer won't pull out very far. I will also need to do some supporting under the front edge to help level the unit out.

The top. The left edge will be trimed flush with the side and the entire unit will have some type of carpet on it so I am able to use what ever scrap 3/4 ply I have, and I have a lot.

Also, 2 weeks ago I got some 285/75R16 Revo's installed on my set of Wheeler's 16" alloys and removed the running boards.

Today the men in brown dropped off a new stainless Borla cat back to replace the rusted piece hanging under my truck right now.

My goal is to have this done in a few weeks but I really only can work on it on Thursdays.

Very nice. So, I guess you don't plan on carrying anymore than one passenger? On mine, I left one of the second row seats in, just to have that capacity, but having the other seat out is very nice for being able to access a good deal of storage from the door behind driver's door.

I'd be interested to hear how the borla exhaust performs and sounds. Just out of curiosity.

If she's lucky, I let my wife ride in the passenger seat. otherwise the only other heart beats in the back will be these two.

I'm hoping the Borala will go on smoothly and I won't have to get anything changed or welded on the rear cat.
