Gen 2.5 Antenna Removal???

Its a blue wire. The same goes to the amp. Tells the amp when to power up. I added a switch inline with the blue for the antenna so I can keep the antenna down while listening to phone provided tunes.

You have to remove the fender to get to the antenna motor

Thanks. I found the blue wire sitting all by its lonesome, not connected. Is there another wire I can splice it to, to provide power to the antenna? Maybe the radio's power?

Actually, I had a better look at it... So the Pioneer head unit is wiring in with, I think, a Metra aftermarket harness. The blue wire is not connected at all.

Also, there is a sort of "baby coax" cable sitting disconnected behind the radio as well, coming from behind the dash. I believe that might be the antenna power.

I'm trying to find the wiring diagram for this Pioneer so I can see what's going on.

Here's a photo of what's behind my head unit...

Since the photo posted upside down for some reason...

The big silver plug on black wire in the top right of the photo is, I believe, the antenna's signal --- that one plugs into the back of the head unit in an obvious position, no problem.

The solid blue wire with the blue splice at the end, in the center of the photo, should be the antenna's power. That blue wire comes out of the black plug that is connected to the truck's radio harness, but does not connect to anything on the head unit itself --- nor is there a spare wire or an obvious location on the head unit that could be used.

The silver plug on black wire in the bottom left of the photo is the "baby coax" I mentioned, it's definitely smaller in diameter than the bigger one in the top right. This baby coax is not connected to anything, nor is there an obvious location for it in the head unit.

I'm thinking that blue wire needs to connect to the radio somehow so that it knows to drive the antenna up and down. What can I splice in on to?

And the baby coax... Maybe that's the factory amplifier or something...?

The baby coax is called a din connector. And it does go to the amp. Pretty sure there is a blue wire on that din connector, that should be the switch to turn on and off the amp, as well as raise and lower the antenna.

Put a meter to it, and you'll get some volts when the radio is on and none when radio power is off.

Din should have an odd number of wires, 2 for each speaker channel, and one to signal amp on/off.

Big silver is antenna. Factory radio uses 2 antenna. The aerial in the fender and the one in the rear door glass.
