Glass Cutter?

So i searched but didn't find any information regarding glass cutters. Does anyone carry them? I've seen overseas expedition enthusiasts mount them in the cab in case (god forbid) they find themselves under water, submerged in their rig they can cut the glass out fair quickly.

Im pretty sure it will never happen.. but i wouldn't mind having one mounted in our rig..

Recommendations? Different styles that work better?

Here's one that will cut the seat belt and has a light on it..

This one is funny as heck.. has everything!!

Either of the ones you posted will work just as this one from galls.com

A swift hit (with the sharp point) at one of the corners or near an edge of the glass is all it takes.

Edit: and a video

The Mythbusters on Discovery Channel did an episode on this not long ago. It was nearly impossible to break the windows with one's feet or fist, but hit it with a hammer-like device like that and the window shatters immediately. I have also heard of folks using a spring-loaded center punch to gain the same shattering effect.

One component of their observations was being patient enough to allow the cabin to fill with a certain amount of water for pressure equalization. My memory doesn't recall what the outcome was, so maybe someone else saw it and can chime in.

I spent 6 years working in the glass business. Buy a spring loaded center-punch. All you do is press the point into the glass, and, click, SHATTER! Takes about 10-15 pounds of force to activate and is cheap, about $5 will cover you. You don't even need room to swing your arm. Tempered glass, like that found in windows other than the windshield, can be much stronger than you think. You can ********** it with a hammer with the force that you think would break it, only to have your friends laugh because all it did was bounce off.:p The glass is easy to shatter if you hit along the edge, i.e., the window is open. Or, the force has to be very concentrated, like the tip of a center punch.

Oh, yeah. These are all glass BREAKERS of course, and not cutters. Much different beast.

One thing to be aware of is window tint. Mylar film is quite strong. If you have some on the window that you're trying to break it makes it a whole lot harder to get out of the opening. Just ask the would-be theif in San Francisco about my shell's tinted windows. He used one of the spring loaded center punches to break the glass, but couldn't get any further.

BTW Harbor Frieght sells the spring loaded punches for cheep.

I've never tried it, but I have always assumed that a ********** from a 3D Maglite would shatter side window. Am I correct?

Another thing to be aware of is that many new vehicles have 'security glass' in the side windows that also will shatter.
