I am a big fan of the teepee tent. they are great for kayaking, ski touring, backpacking or just car camping. I have a Dana Designs Nuktuk (4person)and an aSage (~6person) tents. The Dana has a floor and screen and that is the one we sleep in and the aSage is just a big teepee tarp and that is the kitchen tent. They do well in high wind and deep snow falls. I have used trekking polls with the Dana but they are not as sturdy as the collapsible poll that came with the tent. There are a few times that I forgot the poll and I used a large stick cut to size and once I hung it from a tree and staked it out.

GoLight looks like a good tent choice now that Mountain Hardware and Dana don't make teepees. Look into Kifaru they also make a nice backcountry teepee. https://kifaru.net/TIPI2009.html
