Gorgeous Boat Inspired Teardrop Kit

While evaluating a boat building project, I stumbled across this monocoque trailer design from Chesapeake Light Craft:

It's beautiful. I imagine that it might require some additional reinforcement for the Expo set, but it could easily be installed onto any off-road trailer. At 175 pounds for the entire shell (hull?) and galley kitchen, it's a pretty mean little unit.

Interesting. My boss built a boat from that company. It was very good quality, but it took him almost 2 years to build it. This looks much more simple, but I imagine it still takes a while to build...

"How long will it take to build the CLC Teardrop Camper?

Let's say 250 hours. Basic assembly goes very quickly, and most will have the shell complete after a few weeks of evenings and weekends. Coating, sanding, and finishing are straightforward but moderately time-consuming. The fit-out (galley, electrical system, interior liner, and so on) will vary a lot from project to project. Some builders will keep it really simple, others will outfit their teardrops with extravagant electrical systems and galley fittings. That's part of the fun of doing it yourself!"​
