Got a SofTopper Today

This morning I picked up a very slightly used black SofTopper for the paltry sum of $240 off Craigslist. I had the pleasure of installing it a mix of freezing rain and snow in a local Keg restaurant parking lot, such is the life of a c/l hound. On to the pics:

My first impression is very favorable. The quality seems to be top notch, I was impressed with how taut the fabric is across the top and sides. My only complaint is how the rear flap fits my truck, that is largely do to Nissan's poor design of the tailgate. Along the center top of the gate there is a huge bulge in the plastic, you can clearly see it in the third picture. Maybe when I get the truck Line-Xed I'll remove it. Anyway, this makes securing the flap a pain, I'll figure it eventually. The best feature is the weight, maybe 30lbs.

Excellent! Glad you like it and welcome to the Softopper family!

You'll be very surprised at how tough the fabric is too! I backed into a cedar tree that had its limbs literally hacked off. Stabbed the canvas with no tear, stretch or mark. Very tough!

At one point the Can-Back I wanted was 1200$ + shipping while the Softopper was 570$ including shipping. Plus the Can-Backs at the time were time-unreliable. The company was going through a transition/sale/move. I know one guy who waited over a year, put it on his newly SAS'd Frontier, drove it for like three or four months then rolled it in an accident on the freeway totallying everything. Can-Back didn't survive said crash.

Frontier2k1? I love that rear bumper he made that sets into the quarter panel. I believe that was on the truck when it rolled.
