There was some discussion in one of the other threads about creating something like this for locating repeaters while traveling.

TravelPlus Mobile GPS (downloadable)
2013-2014 Edition

Connecting Amateur Radio with your Garmin nüvi, dēzl or zūmo GPS!*

Locate open ham radio repeaters as you travel in the US and Canada.** It's like having the power of The ARRL Repeater Directory on your Garmin GPS!

Access all open repeaters from The Repeater Directory or TravelPlus for Repeaters datasource. All just a touch away!

Easy to use! With the Garmin touch display select "Where to?" "Extras" "TravelPlus Mobile GPS". Then select a single Band (or All Bands).

Repeater data is displayed as custom Points of Interest (POI). With the important data you need! Touch the repeater labels to show all available information.

Repeater data includes all applicable Location, Output, Offset / Input, CTCSS Tone (T=), Node (N=), and Call Sign data. GPS POI listing shows approximate distance to location name and general direction.***

Repeaterbook is better, IMO. Android - Apple, though it does require smartphone or tablet.

And - if you have a Yaesu 8*7 radio, and this adapter, then Repeaterbook can program the repeater into your radio with a tap of the screen. It's slick as hell and like living in the future.

They also make a BlueCAT that works with the ICOM IC-7000, IC-7100 and IC-9100. I understand it only works with Android, not Apple iOS, although I still don't have a smartphone and thus no first hand knowledge.

Yeah it only works on Android. in IOS, you cannot open use the bluetooth as a serial device.

Repeater book android app works very well. Once installed it has a local copy of the repeater database so it does not require an internet connection. You can sort by a number of parameters such as frequency, distance, PL tone, etc. It has one major flaw though. If you're traveling at speed, it will auto refresh the list and it makes scrolling down the list for distant repeaters almost impossible. It does not have this problem when stationary though. I've notified the developer and requested it to be fixed.

Repeaterbook also will import into the CHIRP programming software. CHIRP (chirp.danplanet.com) in an open source programming software that programs all kind of different radios from the Big 3, Alinco, and most of the Chinese handhelds and mobile that are coming out.
