Guys,
I as many, have been battling on tablet, iPad, Droid, ... Well i pulled the trigger on a netbook

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220782

I will let ya'll know what i think, but to me it has everything!
- 30% more battery
- 87% faster processor
- 50% less cost than the 64G iPad
- 4x as much onboard memory
- (1) USB 3.0 (2) USB 2.0

I could not resist. I do need to pick up a GPS that connects via bluetooth or USB (preffered). I am not looking to break the bank, but i do tons of cross country trips in my F350. I also go offroad in the H1 and i would love to have some trail maps to follow along :coffeedrink:. Topographic would be cool.

I have, I think, a great way to mount this in the oL Hummer. You will have to wait and see, but it will be right infront of the radio and AC controls. Just to help out with that command center look. :ylsmoke:

I have spent some time searching, but i had not seen a netbook thread...

Take a look at this link for a USB GPS that is cheap, small, un-intrusive, and reportedly works well, offerred by the makers of Overland Navigator: http://spatialminds.com/USGlobalSat-BU353-WaterProof-WAAS-Enabled-USB/A/B000V5TV22.htm

User reports are goo. Read them by clicking on the product.

I'll be ordering one for use with my hopefully soon to arrive ASUS Eee Slate EP121-1A010M 12.1-Inch Tablet PC. I'll also be using the Overland Navigator software and maps.

Hope this helps,

JPK

I bought an Acer ZA3 / 751h last year. I specifically wanted the one with the bit bigger kb for my fat fingers and so I got the 11.6" screen. Also wanted the slower cpu (Z520) which uses less power. 2g ram, 250g drive.

I like it a lot. For use in the camper, I added one of these YD190-474 units:

In power save mode with the big battery, using the internal Atheros wifi card, it draws 9w and gets an easy 8+ hours, or 6+ if I'm using my high power Alfa wifi card.

The power adapter works great even with a low aux battery and barely even gets warm. I had a cheaper power adapter at first and it burnt out (actually two did) so I finally ended up with one that has a higher power rating. It's also a lot beefier than the cheaper adapter and has a replaceable fuse. The cheapo had the fuse soldered on the board.
