I'm in Bakersfield, and I used to work in Taft in the oilfields, there is a station at the outskirts of bakersfield about 3 mi from the I-5 that consistenty has prices 2 dollars lower than the same station(ie chevron/chevron) that is right off the I-5.

also, thanks for the reply about the gas tank, I'll have to look into it.

Where is that, and why?

Furnace Creek gas station, FC Death Valley NP, late July, 2008. Fuel prices were crazy high that summer, absolutely the worst time in the last 9 years to go on a cross country desert trip. Oh well.

Here's the same prices at Panamint Springs, same timeframe:
