gucchi land cruiser

Traveling through Mali our air intake hose on our Land Cruiser 80 series broke, my wife blamed the temperature we experienced in Mauritania 130F (57C). We were unable to find any spare parts or a mechanic to fix the problem but a local leather craftman came to our rescue and sewed us a leather patch, it was a beautiful repair job and works just fine. We called it our gucchi land cruiser repair

Right on. That's a diesel right? Shoot i'd have to change it as soon as possible on our american spec FZJ80 with the 1fz-fe. Even a slight crack in our intake and it throws off the idle and makes the rig want to stumble around a bit.

Very cool fix though.

Cool fix, but I prefer Coach :sombrero: You should put it on the new hose just for bling...

That happened on my 80 as well - duct tape did the trick until I was able to get an oem replacement.

I think I am going to start making those! That is awesome. I plugged the heater return line with a spent shotgun shell on my 80 once out in the wild but this one takes the cake.

You do what you can, right Tom? Nice post and I am sure there are other off the wall stories as well associated with trips like the ones you and Janet take. How's the search for a new truck going? Call when you are up for an ale and we can chin wag for awhile.

Gasoline Supply in Africa

No it is not diesel but gasoline. Tough decision deciding on diesel or gas but our experience was that gas is available in Africa in most rural locations even if only in a bottle for sale, whereas diesel is often only on trucking routes.

We have replaced our gucchi air intake as the cruiser is now for sale. We are currently designing a new overland camper vehicle for our planned trip traveling from Alaska to the most southern town in Argentina and back.
