Help understanding battery Group # sizes

Dave your point about shock and vibration not liking shock and vibration, made me think about incorporating some shock and vibration dampening, reducing features. Nothing over the top, or extreme, but there are a number of products available now that can reduce shock and vibration transmission, I think without being problematic incorporating it into the mounting system.
I will look into options available for isolating the battery and mount some from some of the shock and vibration that is transmitted to a hard mounted battery. I don't know how much it would help, but it would be worth doing and seeing how it works. When I think about how much shock and vibration would be transmitted to a battery hard mounted to the chassis, a small reduction in the Magruder might go along way towards extending the batteries useful life.

I'll post up what I find out and what I can come up with for a simple passive isolation battery mounts.

UPS service has very little to do with deep cycling.

The top FLA marques' lines designed for mobile use - nothing gets banged around more than offshore passage making boats - do not suffer from physical failure more than sealed batts.

IF they are properly strapped down.

But those are not as reasonably priced or as widely distributed in all markets.

Putting a layer of shock-absorbent "rubber" sheeting under your tray/box could help I suppose.
