Help with Camping Lab Awning

I just got a Camping Lab awning and need some advise. I have only put it up twice in the driveway by my self. What is the best technique to use. Both times several poles fell, etc. Thanks for any input.

I have put mine up a few times by myself, and there really is no special technique.

I unroll the whole thing first, then I drop one of the upright bars first, then try to get out the same sided horizontal one.

Then I repeat for the other side.
It is kind of like a dance :D
Poles will hit your rig sometimes, so you have to be careful.

Once you have it erect though, a smile will befall you.
It is cool getting it setup, then actually sitting under it in the shade.

Putting it away was actually easier for me.

I've found that each person has his or hers particular technic but to me the easiest thing to do is to deploy both outriggers before unrolling the awning, they should be pushed to the sides as to not get in the way of the actual unrolling of the fabric.

You can push the fabric roll over the aluminum extrusion that forms the awning's backbone and leave it there while you take your time setting the outriggers to length. Then after unrolling the fabric you will be able to deploy both uprights and hookup the outriggers without too much trouble.

Adjusting the height and outrigger length to the final position is easier one side at a time once everything is set, just before staking everything down.

Cheers,
Fernando

When I first opened it up the fabric was rolled around the extruded flat bar. Today I found out that the fabric can be rolled up like a window shade. Should it be rolled back into the round "window shade" thing. That could be why I was having trouble. If you can understand my explanation.

Well the spring loaded roller is there to help you put away the fabric when you're taking down the awning, but if you rather just roll it up by hand it can also be done that way, nothing wrong with that.

Thanks for the help. I will just play around with it in the driveway today.

I agree you just need to figure out the best system for you. I don't really have much help to offer...there are almost always two of us to help set it up and that always makes life a lot easier! Good luck!
