When my wife and I hike in bear country (MT, WY,or ME) or hogs (FL, SC), I usually carry my backpack with my Taurus RB .44 in the center and a Becker BK9 lashed to the outside and easy to get to. But we always use our hiking sticks no matter where we go because they're always in hand and as we get older they get handier.
