Go Big and Fixed. I have a 8000lb Warn 8274 mounted to a receiver. I have used it with a Drawtite front hitch on a Ranger and now I have a custom front receiver on my F250. I have single line stalled the winch a number of times. The ranger was less worry than the F250. I do try to have a straight pull even if the setup isn't ideal. The winch is heavy and I don't move it much. I would hate to think of moving it from the bed or from one end to the other in the mud. I think I will have a fixed mount on my next vehicle and maybe my current one if i find a mount i like. After owning a winch I can't imagine not having one. I use it around the house moving rocks, logs and pulling shrubs up by the roots more than getting unstuck. You will make new friends to. I have neighborhood teens calling at inopportune times stuck places they shouldn't be. A Lake bed during a downpour after midnight comes to mind.
