HJ45 Prep? Temp Gauge Wiring?

Strider

Observer
Picked up my 1980 HJ45 Pickup!
New upper radiator hose (couldn't find a lower).
New water pump.
Oil change.

The speedo doesn't work except for the fuel gauge. Not sure whether to get a whole new speedo cluster or if they are rebuildable.

Main Concern: Temperature gauge. Can't find the wire that should connect to the sender. Anyone have a schematic for that? I'd like to fix that before driving it 2,500 miles from Florida to Arizona next week. Maybe I should get a cheapo temp gauge for now and wire that up?
Any ideas?

I can't believe the heat coming off that metal floor! I did have a1980 Jeep CJ7 that was similar. Gonna get a couple of those metallic foil sun visors for cars and layer them under some outdoor carpet. Not ideal but should help me on the trip, especially with the heat-and hopefully a little with the noise level!

Damn if this isn't one rough tank of a vehicle! My CJ7 was rough too, but this one feels even more so due to the 4 speed turtle transmission! I do believe, however, that this vehcile can be turned int o a pleasant, reliable, and very capable overlanding vehicle!
