How frequent to clean camelback and what to use?

For the most part, I only use water in my reservoir so I rarely clean them out. When I do, I fill with some hot water and just a little soap. I blow into it the hose to inflate. Then shake the soapy solution around. Empty and refill to rinse, repeat. To dry, I stuff paper towels in and inflate again, shake them around to pick up all the moisture, repeat.

I learned this from a Camelbak rep years ago and it works really well. no need to mess with trying to find a way to prop open the reservoir to air dry.

If you're using tap water, just let it air dry after use. If you've put tea or something else in it, rinse it and let it air dry. If you've left god knows what in it and it's green inside, a soft bottle brush and a bleach solution will clean the bladder and a shoelace with a knot or two in the middle will clean the tube.
