Figured I would give a bump to a fellow KJ.
Your tablet, while more in depth than my solution, is right on the money, I simply use a ram-mount to the windshield for the 1g ipad. Makes a hell of a GPS unit.
...AND some entertainment for those soggy evenings on the trail.
If you are still looking for a front recovery point, the TJ front receiver is the way I would have done it, had I known it was that easy and clean of an install.
For a free/easy mod that makes the truck a bit closer to my ideal, I converted the HVAC fan switch from "1-2-3-4" to "vent-1-2-4", no more fan if I don't want it. I also modified the HVAC controls to keep the A/C compressor off in defrost/floor unless A/C button is pushed.
I will agree with our friend from Utah, take what you find on LOST with a grain of salt.
