AZJP - killer rig! I love to see people buying/building on "different" platforms! Good luck with it.

Just saw this post - and I need to change my avatar.

Unfortunatley, I haven't been camping since I sold the Ex. However, I'm currently biting the bullet and am building what I have.

New job really took away the time. JP - hope you are having fun with the Ex. I loved it and it did very well off road.

LOVE it! Got any pics of your OBA setup?

How does it do for mileage/RPM with the 4.56/40s combo? I'm runnin 37s on my Cummins Ram with 3.54s, but thinking about getting 4.10s... Dont want to get rid of my great fuel mileage, but feel like it needs a little more down low...:victory:

Here are a couple of pics from a 6 day Utah trip a few months ago. We will be doing a week offroad in either California or New Mexico next month.

One of the best mods done by the previous owner:

ZJARCHER: My MPG on the highway (70+) is usually worse than around town. Probably due to the terrible aerodynamics and large tires, but maybe a little because of the low gearing. It turns about 2,000 RPM at 65 MPH or so. My guess is you'd lose a bit of fuel mileage with the lower gears. I will try to get a pic of the onboard air soon.

16 Years on ExPo. Whoa!!
Very neat truck and very neat build. I really like the attention to detail and I also like how the 40s don't look freakish at all... It gets me thinking about my truck except its a longbed extracab (so the equivalent of a 4 door shortbed) and the wheelbase is another 1.5" longer or so...

I wanted to mention if you feel the tune is off the Superchips (and most of the big corporate, Bully Dog etc) supposedly have really crappy tunes for the 7.3. I have a TS style 6 position tuner coming (rotate knob, adjust one one of several tunes). I have been using a supplier out of Texas, www.cptruck.com (Paul Rutlidge) who has been wonderful. I found them as they advertise on my 4BTswaps.com site. I'm trying to get mine up to 18 mpg via a few mods.. The 7.3 is finally really starting to grow on me after major repairs when I bought it... Attached a couple pics. Unfortunately for anything other than a mild exploring rig I think I'm going to stick to Toyotas but I've done a couple southern Utah trips already in it and it has been just wonderful. Here are a couple pics...

Even with a mild lift and 33's, the truck makes me look a little more regular height (I'm 6'5..)... I can't imagine how big your Ex is in person.. :)
