Once again thanks for all your awesome comments!!
It is 4x4 with low range and lsd. Unfortunately no trips planned as I have to unfortunately sell it....
Went with a 50 mm insulated body as used for refrigeration trucks on steel subframe with the usual springs for articulation.

Will post build pics over the next couple days/weeks. here is the first instalment

This is the original vehicle was a fire engine for wood plantations20150129_132045~2.jpg

Testing a little offroad note the chassis flex and there was no spring movement at all and all wheels on the ground....

Managed to source an identical tank from salvage yard so now we can drive a bit further....

It is such a pleasure to work on these trucks its like mechano all holes are there, just plug and play..try and fit a spare tank into car or pick up!!!

Connect both drain plugs for a balanced system and thats it. even managed to have locksmith fit truck key to both caps

Thanks MJ. Sketchup is an awesome and easy to use free design program. It helps a lot to get a sense of placement and dimensions and its easy to see how different layouts are going to work. I spent many weeks with it. Also one needs to set out ground rules eg. Are u designing for 2 persons? Where is this vehicle going to go? Hot or cold climates? How many days wild camping (no power) etc etc and then you need to stick to your groundrules. Researched a lot on the internet which seems quite obvious being on a site like this but I searched wide and far even on very different vehicles there is always some info that you might be able to use. Be prepared to make mistakes and forgive yourself (i struggled with that one). Have a reasonable budget as its no fun otherwise and buy the biggest and best your budget allows (having to upgrade later will always cost much more) and if you dont have the right tools make the purchase part of your budget....it is sooooo much easier with the right tools! If you think you build it strong, built it stronger, put in those extra screws...its a different ballgame when things are mobile!! Five things near me at all times: masking tape, punch (never drill a hole without it), turpentine, paper towels, hand cleaner. Oooops sorry got carried away!!!
