^^^Wow, that's a beauty.

I have been thinking about the flat flares, are yours the bushwacker versions?

And I agree about them being just about perfect on the size/wheelbase/room side. I think I like it more than I did my '90 Wrangler and I really liked that Jeep.

Thank you, yep, bushwacker. If you end up buying them, check the lights before you install, mine were labeled incorrectly and the ground was reversed.

I destroyed my "milk cartons" long long ago, but just kept stomping them back into place for a long time. I found a mopar "rock crawler" rear bumper on CL and I'm running that now, but I need to add some tow points and a hitch. Shame that the front bumper looks so good w/o endcaps, but the rear looks completely awkward.
Nice to be out wheeling I'm sure!!

Agreed. I still have the front stock front bumper, just cut down a bit, and a winch plate on the front of my LJ

Good to know.

What are the specs on your jeep? Lift/Tires, etc.?

Jack

Nth degree 3.5. BFGs, tummy tuck, EMU shocks, warn 9.5, LED lights front and rear, CAI...I've left the engine mostly stock for reliability, and nothing too crazy on the lift. THe tuck really gives me great clearance while keeping the COG down. Fully armored underneath with nth plates, driveline protection etc.

I need to work now on interior storage and I would like a custom roll cage. The stock ones in my opinion arent really up to snuff in case of a roll over.

Nice LJ! Have fun getting it where you want it! IMHO the LJ is the ultimate overland vehicle. (Maybe I'm a bit biased)
Depending on how you configure it you can do almost anything and go anywhere with it. Even when mine was bone stock with all terrain tires; it sometimes scared me how capable it was. I love to go where others seldom travel so having a rig that I can live in comfortably and get back home in one piece is a must. If you need any ideas feel free to pick my brain. As long as you can keep replenishing fuel, food and propane you could live in mine as long as you felt like it. I have pics on my profile page.

Sounds like a great set up.

I just checked out your profile pics, very impressive. You definitely have used and designed a heck of a system. Do you have a "build" posted anywhere? I would love to know more about your system and the Jeep as a whole.

I will keep the truck for more of the "overland" travel, the Jeep will be my short trip/overnight type trips. And of course more technical type trails that the truck won't fit down or that I don't want to take it down.

It's funny that I'm seeing similar stories about finding a garaged Jeep with low miles (2005 LJ with 22,000 mi in Aug 2011). It has been fun to drive and camp out of. Yours looks just like mine. About the ODPA thing... I had it checked out carefully in the first week I had it. The dealer who sold the Jeep to me was willing to pull it to determine the condition, and it was stated to be in good condition with none of the wear marks that are known. Plus, the Jeep's build date is outside the affected build date range. If the motor goes south, I would be willing to consider a motor-transmission redo (I want a manual transmission anyway). Today, it has less than 35,000 mi on it. The first photo shows the Jeep in single bed mode, then the other two show when it was in two-bed mode at the time. It's nice that I can go either way. I drove up to Ohio last fall through the Natchez Trace Pkwy and camped on it twice before getting to Ohio. A great drive through beautiful country.

I think its the perfect size/wheelbase. Could not be happier, you made a great choice!

What are those tires? Which BFGs? Size? They look like they're on stock rims. Are they?

I forgot to add that I get about 20 to 21+ MPG when it's pegged at 65 MPH. I just get up to that speed and cruise it. Oh, and it feels good when I hammer the throttle to get out of a bad spot in traffic.

Post #814 is where I start blabbering about my LJ. Thanks for the kind words. Just remember what JEEP stands for? Just Empty Every Pocket! Lol

Oh, the days of good gas mileage! How I miss thee! When I'm loaded up I get about 10mpg highway :(

Again, I thought I could utilize limited space, but I bow to you.

What are the rest of the specs on your rig? Lift/tire size/other mods?

I was going to ask what your mileage was, with that load/set up, I am not surprised. It takes a lot of energy to move that "brick" through the air.

BFG all terrain 305 70r/16s. The rims are aftermarket, and I cannot remember the brand. I'm overseas right now or I would go look.

A question for you, any issues flat towing yours? I have a dodge 4x4 quad cab short bed with a 5.9 cummins, manual tranny. Carli leveling kit on 33's.
