I currently have a WJ that is close to stock(trimmed with 31's).

If I had to have something as a DD and a off road vehicle the WK's are at the top of the list. For someone who just wants to build a trail rig I think the WJ is a better choice IMO mainly because of price.

My list if I decide to for a more expensive DD/trail rig.

Great to see a Jeep getting out there. Never thought I'd see WK's wheeling much. I like it. Does the suspension limit you to your options?

Today I visited Frontrunner, and like many times before, I populated the “outfit your vehicle” section. For the first time it showed two Slimline II racks (965mm and 1,156mm L) mounted with strap-on feet on the OEM roof rails.
The picture for the product description even have a Subaru in it, so it must be a generic solution- still better than nothing.
Have you seen or have experience with Slimline II roof racks on the WK?

I talked with those guys about a year ago and never really pursued anything. I do not have the rack bug anymore so not really been looking.

They do look like great racks.

I usually carry my RTT on the HD roof rails, but I have some trips coming up that may require carrying extra supplys on my roof. So I used some unistrut and an old hitch mount rack and made this...

I still have to trim some bolts and touch up the paint, but this should get the job done.

Just messing around and finally got to scan in this item from Overland Journal 2011 with my Jeep from a photo taken by Scott Brady at the Vermont Overland Rally. I know, it's like being an "extra" in a movie but it made me proud.

Oh crap, I hope I didn't violate some copyright law or something !!??

Nice pictures here. I used to have a 99 WJ. Going to be back in the market in the next 2 months for a newer jeep. I travel a bit for work and am torn between a JKU and WK.

I like my WK but if I drove a lot for work I'd consider looking for a used low mileage WK2. There are a lot of them for sale around here for less than $20k, many still under warranty. Better gas mileage than a WK and much more comfortable than a JK.
