jk 4dr Rhino Backbone Roof Rack

We recently became an authorized dealer for Rhino Rack products, and we've installed 3 of the JK Backbone systems in the last few weeks. One was on our shop JK and the others for customers. On two of them we also installed a 6.5' Rhino Rack Sunseeker awning off of the driver side, along with the rear roller for loading assist.

The shop JK is my personal ride. On my last Rubicon, I had a Front Runner Extreme full rack, and while I absolutely loved it, and it was extremely stout, you can pretty much forget taking the top off unless you're willing to invest a few hours in the project, not to mention finding a place to store the rack and the top. That was one of the main reasons I went with Rhino Rack on this build. The install is fairly straight forward, shouldn't present any issues as long as you have a basic tool compliment and pay attention to the instructions. I'm very particular about roof racks with regard to wanting something as low profile as possible, but also stout enough to stand on, haul my kayaks, etc. I was very pleased after the install with the "ride height" of the rack. I was also very pleased with seeing how easy it would be to take the top off with the rack installed. On the first drive I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the rack didn't make a noticeable difference in wind noise, which isn't the case with a lot of other racks on the market. I've had the rack on the shop JK for a couple of weeks now, including a 1500 mile or so wheeling trip, and am still extremely pleased with it. I've also used it multiple times to haul my kayaks around, if you have any type of boat I would HIGHLY recommend adding the rear roller, it makes loading my kayak MUCH easier.

Overall, I'm VERY pleased with the rack, and the feedback has been the same from the customers that we installed for. They've all been using the racks and have all been very pleased with their performance.

Don't know how close you are to us (we're in Oklahoma) but if you're looking for a rack we've got one unit left in stock. We're pretty much out of accessories but should have more in stock shortly. If you're not close to us we'd be happy to have one shipped to you as well. If I can help, just PM me or give us a call!

Heres a few pics.

EDIT: Sorry, I'm not smart enough to delete the one that is upside down.

I have a friend who has one and is happy with it so far. After checking it out in person on his rig, it has risen to the top of my list of potential racks. Like all Wrangler racks, price is always an object.

So you can only use it with the hard top. How much weight can it carry? Can you put a RTT on it?

On rhino's website you can carry 125kg or the vehicles rating whichever is lower. Jeep hardtop roof had a load rating of 0kg so according to rhino and jeep 0kg. I'm not saying you can't do it just don't expect any support if you break something or cause an acident. I cetaintly wouldn't put a rtt on there.

:sombrero: Consider the MBRP JK/JKU Rack, or Quadratec "Off Camber" rack--

They have several options, for basket/light bar-

Will support RTT easy

The rack will support 0ver 700lbs static and 350lbs mobile-

Removing the HT is simple and quick (with hoist)

Good luck

I have the AEV roof rack which uses the same Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform. I'm highly disappointed with the roof rack from the complete lack of accessories. The very limited amount of accessories from Rhino Rack are overpriced when compared to competitors like FrontRunner. Everything I have mounted on it required drilling holes through the rack, and hacking my own mounting systems.

I'll second the MBRP rack. Stout, lightweight, easy to install, and the top can still be removed. I love mine

Can you elaborate more on this? pics? I'm looking at adding in their rear roller, awning, Rotopax mount, and load stops. I just put my Yakima gear on and it fit perfect.

I just put my Yakima Landing Pads on. They fit perfect. So all of my Yakima gear works great. B.R. also offers bike, Kayak, Ski/ Board attachments too.

Are you saying the Yakima landing pads bolt directly to the Rhino Rack mounts? Do you have a picture?

I'm also very interested in this rack, but would like to know if it is usable with a roof top tent. Everyone seems to be asking this question, but neither the manufacture nor any of the vendors have been forthcoming. Come on guys, will it support the weight of a roof top tent with occupants or not? It would seem to be a very simple question.

I have the backbone albeit on the JK 2dr. For what it weighs, for it can carry and low wind noise I don't think it can be beaten. Works perfectly with the RTT.
