JK manual upgrades

Do to another Mopar throw out bearing failure I decided to take matters in to my own hands and decided to put in a Centerforce clutch in my 2013 Jeep. Job was a pain in the but doing it in my garage on my back but I have to say it was so worth the time. The Centerforce clutch is so much better than stock. I went with the dual friction and fly wheel set up. Drives 100% better. Best of all was the warranty discussion with the Jeep dealer as it has a 100,000 mile warranty on drive train but come to find out the throw out bearing and the bearing inside the fly wheel are not covered under warranty as they have those under serviceable parts....... go figure.

The unforeseen issue not sure if I did it or the dealer when they did it last was a torn seal on the stick shift lever where it goes in to the box. Mopar wanted $800 for the assembly as you can’t change the seal. So last week I ordered the B&M sport shifter and what an awesome combo. For anyone with a manual transmission you need to really consider both of these parts. The shifter is dead on and locks in. Much shorter throw and much crisper shifts. I was hesitant about spending the $ on the shifter but $420 for the B&M vs $800 for the Mopar made it a no brainer. Sucked that I had to do it but happy with the results.

Another happy find was when I removed the clutch , the throw out bearing clutch arm inside the tranny was missing the retainer clip........ pretty sketchy.... for a $1.20 part that holds it all together.

The shifter is really cool. It actually clicks in to place. Drove around 300 miles today and really like it. Here is a bad video of the shift with engine off. Lots smoother with everything running but hard to do by yourself.

Awesome. How complicated was it to swap it out? Seems straight forward. Does it come with everything necessary or did you have to get anything apart?

Really easy to do. I would recommend getting a new foam seal as the old ones get brittle and the new ones are cheap. With a new one you can do it all from up top. I would say from 1-5 it’s a 2. Foam seal from Mopar
