So I've been trying to think of a "name" to either give my jeep, or my adventure(s) upcoming.... I think I just found it: EarthExpeditions or... E[SUP]2[/SUP]

I thought it was pretty clever and might get a sticker/ windshield banner or something made up (after I design it).

I have a bunch of other options, Including Overland Vagabond, GaiaExplorer, DirtRoadDrifter, DirtRoad Adventures, OverlandTreks, GaiaOverland Expeditions (GO Expeditions).

Thinking of these as trying to get a logo made as well.

Did you get the hood louver for looks or because of heat issues? My 04 LJ boils the fuel in injector #3 if you shut it off hot and then try to restart it 10-15 min later. Trips a misfire code and runs like crap. Been debating on the louver to see if it'll let some of that heat rise instead of building under the hood.

What kind of issues are there with the OPDA? Is it with the lubrication aspect of it or the ignition? Thanks

I got it because it runs warm\ hot especially off road and since I'm gonna be in the desert next summer, I want to minimize overheating.

As for opda, what I understand it is a lubrication issue.

Gotcha, thanks. I think we'll give it a try to see if it helps. I'm debating a trip out west with my son in it following me next year also so I'm trying to work out all the little bugs in it.

At 160k I guess it's safe to say the OPDA in mine is doing ok...

Late welcome to Maryland BTW

I installed hood louvers on my 2005 LJ last spring. I was experiencing the heat soak issue you mentioned, especially in the heat of the NC summer and when slow going on trails. From what I understand the louvers do nothing for actual engine temp but reduce the heat in the engine bay area, which can help control the heat soak issue. So this is in no way scientific, but this summer I had no, none, zilch, nada... as in zero... heat soak issues. I used the genright ones, but same principle as the poison spyder. If I were to do it again I would probably go with the poison spyder for ease of install.

That's good to hear, I'll be installing one this winter then. I took it to the dealer this summer which installed a heat shield on the injector and decarbed the engine. They said carbon build up on the valves is also a big issue with the 4.0 when never used at high rpms and recommended running it at 3250 rpms for a few minutes at a time occasionally. The carbon builds on the valves and doesn't allow them to seat properly causing that misfire when it also has the fuel issue going on. 3250 is the magic # according to them for the valves to rotate and break free the carbon.

I had the poison spyder on top and the GENRIGHT on the sides (where the Rubicon stickers go). Worked great in the AZ heat and the NC humidity. Looked pretty neat too.P5137278.jpg

So last night on my way home from work I decided to put my whole navigation setup to the test.... Wanted to make sure I liked it, was viewable, etc. I've had the Garmin GPS since our move out east.... I also have had the cell phone mount in the upper left of the picture for a while (this mount I also use for my handheld GPS occasionally). But I got a steel ball mount from my wife for xmas, so I installed it. I can see why most people don't use it... the magnet isn't quite strong enough to hold it in place. So I got one of those peel and stick hangers to run the cable in, so the cable sort of holds it in place. I haven't tried it off-road, but it seemed to work well on my 30 minute commute.

I use the gps, I haven't really used the tablet much, but I have Backcountry Navigator Pro installed on it (with many other apps), and I also have an app called (maplets) that let's me see trail maps for different areas and off-road parks.

I'm awaiting my new CB antenna and CB (since I seem to be having issues with this set up). Then I can final mount my external speaker someplace too (right now you can see it is just sitting on the dash in that tray).

Happy New Years everyone!
