What's the story on the Tundra?

I passed it on the way in, thought the people might have went for a hike. It was still there on the way out, so I stopped. Looks like something broke on the front suspension? It was a long way from pavement, and a long was away from any place a trailer could get, if they wanted to tow it any place. That spot is about 8 or 9 miles from the cabin, and only 10 or 12 miles to the point?:Wow1:

Nice pics and thanks. You show only the "nice" roads, but not the "real" road going into Kelly Point such as this:

Thanks again, your pics brought back some very nice memories.

Gary; That Toyota, is about 20 yards before, that picture you posted. Your trip report, is what motivated me to make the trek to Kelly Point. Thank You.:) The week before Kelly Point, I went to Whitmore, and hiked down to the river.

We've always wanted to do the hike to the river at Whitmore, but it seems we are always there when it's blistering hot.

We want to do the eastern half of the A S next time. I think there's trees over there with many roads to explore.

Thanks again for posting.

On our trip two of the guys hiked down in the early evening (cooler) and took a swim and then hiked back arriving just before dark. They said it didn't take long and was a fairly easy trail. Of course they were younger than you and I so figure that into the equation.

Thanks,
Fred

I should NOT have done the hike, 90 at the Jeep when I started, could have been close to 100 at the river. :Wow1: Then I drove to Mt Trumbull, and hiked to the top of that.:) So quite a change from Whitmore , to Mt Trumbull. The temp, at the Jeep was 65 after my hike at Mt Trumbull.

I was wondering about the temps and you just answered the question. Great pics. Any idea how much fuel you used?

From St George to Kelly point the distance is 115 miles one way. I went in through Mesquite, and the route I took was just about the same. This is a link to the BLM website witch give a description of the drive

I got about 11.5 miles to the gallon, not that great.
This is a link to some weather stations in the AZ. Strip area.

Cant wait to go back, and go to Twin Point.

Great report and adventure. Thanks for sharing.

Are there other notable campgrounds along the way, or did you just camp at the point?
