I thought that I would pass along to my fellow Nissan'ers a positive experience I have had with a Genuine Nissan Factory Part that is available for purchase. A little while ago I was concerned about losing my keys and being locked out of my vehicle in the middle of nowhere. I investigated hiding keys and the like but was still not satisfied with any of the solutions available.

I then came across the Genuine Nissan Factory Keyless Entry Pad that is quite small, works up to 100' from your vehicle (meaning you can place it anywhere on your truck), has a battery life of 5 years, is waterproof, and has very, very good 3M adhesive tape on the back for placement. I ordered it online and received it in three days. After washing my truck I considered several locations (I have seen owners place the unit above the door handle, under the mirror, on the roof rack, and under the bumper by the license plate) and decided to place it above the door handle just below the window on the beveled section that is angled in towards the window.

It's works great. You can program the codes to perform a variety of functions such as unlock/lock all doors or some of the doors, open windows, unlock the rear hatch, etc.

I have one on my Frontier. It's a nice thing to have just-in-case. One thing I read in the manual is that the battery is not serviceable, so when it dies, you have to replace the whole unit.

One more caveat in the instructions...

(Not for use on any Vehicle with the Nissan Intelligent Key System*)
*intelli-key system is the new key fob for the push button start systems.

It's wireless and is specific to Nissan (pretty much works the same as a programmed key fob that comes with your vehicle from the factory new).
