Are they kidding? That price tag is waaay out of hand for what it is. Who needs a hand built ANYTHING for a baja rig. Lame.

haha! That's what I'ev always thought about those TLC trucks. An old toyota 4wd mag about a year ago had one on the cover. It was the NORMAL TLC Icon Land cruiser and it went for 80k!!!!
Yikes!
:shakin:
They do 80's as well for astronomical amounts!

THose guys do nice resto work but come on an LS6?! I mean first of all use some real toyota power. Second 145K are they nuts? How the hell could you possibly run up a 145K bill on any cruiser? they must be operating on a keystone profit margin.

145K and no Toyota V8 Turbo-diesel???

For 145K I don't want any GM crap in my truck. Matter of fact they should PAY YOU to run anything made by Shivvy...

With pricing like that you'd think they were a subsidiary of Blackwater...

They ultra expensive just any one off car is. It can have any motor you want. I agree 145 is way to much, though a lower priced icon would be cool.

Hear that sound? That's TLC laughing all the way to the bank. ;)

I respect their craftsmanship, however I'm obviously not a member of their target market.

even if I had that much money to through out the windows, I would never spend $145K on a offroad machine. that's ridiculous.

get a FJ80 and trick it out for $45K and give the rest away to some non-profit or something...like the California State Parks... The old lighthouses around SF are being ran by volunteers because the have zero money to maintain them - just an example amongst others....

Are people loosing their mind? seriously?

target market

I think the target market is movie studio executives and entertainment law firm partners. Let's face it, nobody even turns his/her head when a Porsche Turbo goes by these days. Gallardos and F430s are for the office staff at Google (one of my friends has one).

Everybody will pay attention when you arrive in the Icon Baja commemorative edition. And that's what the people who might spend $145,000 on a vehicle like this are looking for.

Restored F40's show up from time to time on the IH8MUD forum. Price is usually $20-$25,000.

15 years ago BTB in San Jose Ca, (now located in henderson NV) used to build from the ground up FJ40's, they were immaculate - he was getting between 50-75K, and that was before the bubble...

I'd go for a Tesla first

The detailed pics in Trails a while back were very nice.

But the whole Domestic axles, engine, tranny, t-case just completely turns me off to it. If you look at TLC's site, they have a long history of using Chevy V-8s in their restorations.

The whole thing seems to be designed to use off the shelf parts that can be easily bolted together with minimal fabrication and modification.

If they would have incorporated a Toyota V-8, Maybe a manual 80/100 tranny and part time T-case and some beefed up 80 axles, then we'd be talking.

But still, it's an interesting concept.
