What I know about this sort of truck wouldn't fill a thimble. Could someone off the top of their head tell me what kind of engine and transmission it will have and what its reasonable highway cruising speed would be?

Thanks.

It is the stock 2.25 liter four cylinder with 70 or 80 hp. It will cruise 60 or 65 on the flat since it has the overdrive. Top speed is probably 70 or 75.

The transmission is a 4 speed full synchro, but the overdrive gives you 8 speeds in high range, although in reality you only use 6 of them.

Traveling up really steep hills on the interstate you will be going about the same speed as fully loaded semi trucks. It is really much happier on 2 lane roads and even happier off the pavement.

Thanks for the expert response!

I appreciate knowing more about it. The part about climbing hills with the loaded semis rings a bell. That's what I had to tell everyone about my Unimog camper. Maybe we could start an ExPo competition for worst power to weight ratio. ;)

In my old four cylinder Land-Rover, the only vehicle I could beat in a drag race was a VW Bus.

My Dormobile has the six cylinder engine, so I can pass those semis in 15 or 20 seconds!
