I don't know if I'd be much help. I used the directions in the WELLS book when I went. I do remember that there is a left turn off the main dirt road that is very easy to miss. Maybe we could do a run up there sometime? I haven't done that trail in probably 3 years. It's really short so you'd have to package it with some other trails to make the drive worth while.

I've tried to find it twice...and still could not find it. And I even had directions from "Articulate".......the Arizona back country Professional!!!!:victory: !

Great find! My buddy was actually joking with me last Friday. He wanted to know if I ever considered carrying a small gas powered chainsaw in the Jeep and I looked at him like he was nuts. After seeing these pictures it might not be such a bad idea. I like your pocket one much better than an actual chainsaw though

If any of you boys ever golf up in Sedona it would be really easy to find. I remember when I was there I was shocked to see that there is the fairway to a golf course maybe 50 yards off the backside of the cabin. I wouldn't be all that suprised if they did tear it down in the past 3 years and you are running into a gated community that they built off the fairway. I might plug the coordinates into some of my aerial photography later and see what it looks like.

By looking at it I'd never guess it would work on that big of a tree. Can we get a review? I would love that! When you said pocket saw I didn't think you were being literal. Very cool!!

DOH! it would be a shame if its behind those gates, unless I lived in there. There was a hole of golf right next to the guard gate too!

Some local Prescott locations got over 2.8" of rain - if that had happened in Martin Canyon it runs 3 or 4 feet deep in the narrow section. The stock tank probably took most of the run off - it was pretty close to bone dry last month.

I've been fighting downed trees up here for the last 3 years. Certain areas south of Prescott almost require a chain saw to get thru, and one of my old favorite trails is pretty much impassible due to dead and down stuff. I walked a half mile in this last summer - there were trees down every 40 to 50 yards...it would take days to clear the whole 5+ miles. I turned around when the quad tracks quit. The alternate route isn't much better either, but the FS is keeping it cleared for the most part.

I haven't used it on trees that big, but it should work. It would be faster than the hatchet!

I guess the idea behind those saws is they are survival saws. Meant to be small enough to toss in a pack and forgotten about untill you really need them. Good if you're in a situation where this little saw is all you've got. However, if you need to get some serious work done, like cutting through 10"+ deadfall and have space in your truck to carry a real saw, bring a bow saw, or a chainsaw. You don't see pro arborists whipping out their trusty "Pocket Chainsaw" to buck a tree. Understandably, we're not loggers and we don't need 50cc saws with 25" bars, but a small saw with a 14-16" bar will go a long way in trail clearing. Besides, there's no shame in using the right tool for the job.

It was still stupid, but once I headed into the canyon it was dry and the storm had past. I was amazed that it wasn't still running though. Not even a little. Everything was wet of course though. I was rushing throught that wash not knowing how long it was because of that worry. Thankfully the spot I got stuck at was high-er ground.
