This most excellent discussion isn't quite long enough yet so I'll try to help it out......

Which locker is best.....?!

:) I like these the best. I've got two units of three in my garage!

Come on Bill... Get serious!

I like Potatos... With Bacon..

Okay Okay. I'll be serious.
I've been a big fan of Autolockers in the rear, Detroits have never let me down. I am big on selectable in the front but I have also run Detroits (on trucks with hubs) and Torsen/TT LSD's both types served me well but I now prefer selectable in the front, Either ARB if Rover, ARB or E Locker if a Toy conversion (I've not found the E Locker to be that much slower to lock/unlock than the ARB)

Chances are however, this go around I will be putting a 35 Spline ARB in the rear of my 110 mostly for snow considerations and a 30 spline Toy ARB in the front. Then again I might stick with a Detroit in the rear It's hard to compare $400 autolocker to a $900 Selectable.

But first I will mount a Winch..

if anyone cares, and i know you all do, im pro lsd in the rear, and selectable up front.

in a bad sitch, a little brake and front locker go a long way.
id say my preference is this...

1) rear lsd, front locker
2) front locker/rear locker
3) open front, rear lsd
4) rear locker/open front
5) open/open
6) winch
7) having the girlfriend push
8) having her mother lay under the airborne wheel, (hmm. maybe trade that with 1)
9) rolling down the hill near naked w/o a seatbelt and soiled skivies.
10) watching opra
11) watching opra naked with soiled skivies
...
...
...
42) front locker, open rear (that even souuuunds wrong)

the slight advantage you get from only having a front locker only, isnt worth broken birfield syndrome.

'course, this is just my opine.

What's the advantage of an LSD over a selectable full locker, other than price?

In fact, what's the advantage of any other Traction Adding Device over a selectable full locker? (Other than, again, price, and perhaps kindness to the drivetrain. Oh... and the fact they might not require driver decisions, I suppose).

To make it a limited slip locker would the rubber mat go on the floor or inside the locker??

I guess that you showed three of them because you have front, center and rear lockers, right?

Would that take three seperate rubber mats?

Were the lockers made in Detroit?

Why would you chose a rear LSD/front locker over a rear and front locker ?

Also why pick a rear LSD/open front over a rear locker and open front ?

Aside from the cost factor, that doesn't make sense.

Bait... Bait...Bait....BITE!

Egads MAN! Everyone knows you can't put a limited slip in the center locker.

Two mat's only! And always inside the locker, if it was outside the lcokers it would be a Limited Slip Locker Room.

E Locker for the Rover diff.... I've heard whispers, I don't see it though unless they fit later model trucks.
An example: E Locker for a 60 is the same price as an ARB, I would expect the Rover E Locker to cost the same as a Rover ARB. ARB is a proven piece, everyone wants one. The E Lockers I've installed have been okay but nothing to jump up and down about, cool yes but to take market share away from ARB will be a big task.

The attraction for me was both drivetrain kindness, and also that it doesn't require input. It's always working, whether I'm just in a mud, a snowy road, slippery rock climb, or whatever. I've always got a traction aid working, without thought. You don't have to think about whether or not you'll need it, if you forgot it on, if you need to turn a corner in a difficult traction situation, should you leave it on or off...

I Like Spy Pics! Usually means someone is paying attention! Eaton does nice work too! (it's nice to see the wiring a little better protected than on the D60 versions I've installed)

I still don't see were the market share is going to come from but I like surprises! If it can be made inexpensive enough it'll go, I'd do one in my toy front diff.

I could see this as a fine addition to all those LR3's out there without factory lockers.

I don't see a Tru Trac hiding inside this like on the D60 version.. That would really be a boon to the LR3, traction control that really works well with a limited slip or turn it off and go commando (fully locked)

My 1989 full sized Bronco came with factory limited slips. I felt that they were pretty good on ice but not such a big help elsewhere. My '05 4Runner has the locking Torsen center diff and A-Trac which work really well on uphill climbs in loose stuff. It was when I was trying to get up and over a rocky ledge that I felt a rear locker would have been great.
