Looking for handheld 2-way radio recommendations

I'd like to get a pair of handheld radios to keep in the camper, but know next to nothing about them. Are there any options/functions in a handheld FRS/GRMS radio ya wouldn't want to be without?

I'm looking at this model, I like the fact it's got NOAA weather channel, text messaging, caller ID, and a large screen.

This may sound cheap, but I'm limited to Best Buy's selection (which isn't too bad), so I can use up this gift card I've had awhile :D

So any suggestions?

I'd suggest going with something more common. Soo many people have frs/gmrs radios so i'd go that direction so that you have some interoperability.

these are in the same price range and it gives you 3 radios instead of 2 (think convoy driving perhaps, or having others with you) and since they use the more common frs/gmrs channels theres a good chance of being able to communicate with others if you desire. They do the weather radio as well which is sure handy to have.

I second the FRS/GMRS suggestion. Interoperability is key and the advertised range of the above suggested radios leads me to believe that they're full 5 watt transmitters, which is nice. Be sure to get yourself a GMRS license, which is good for your whole family for a few years.

One of the nice things about the FRS/GMRS radios is that you can find replacement or additional radios everywhere should you need them on a trip.
