Louder horns??

I'm on my 2nd pair of Hella Supertones.

They come in a high pitch and a low pitch, or both. Get the both. My friend has the combo pair on his D90. Sounds good. Nice and loud, pretty neutral in sound.

The low pitch sounds like a jeep off of the show, MASH. That is what I had before and that kinda went with the whole theme of the old Series rover theme. I now have the high tone ones and they sound dorky.

This is what I have on my truck. I have a lighted separate button for it as I find it difficult to find the steering wheel button for the oem ones:

Which Hella's?

It was a tongue in cheek reply, both models of Hella's have a Euro sound that I don't like.

I don't use a horn much but when I do,I want it to sound like a 1960's American truck.
I wonder if all trucks with air brakes have air horns?
I guess the salvage yard will be my best option.

Is the EPA after horns too?

I have a stebel on my motorcycle and it works fantastically well.

Honestly, if I had the means, I would purchase a stutter horn. These are the types of horns installed on police cars and bikes that make them sound much, much larger than they are. They are not cheap, but you can switch them between a standard car horn sound and holy-crap-my-ears-are-bleeding loud.

I think they typically run about $200. But in cold weather you don't have to worry about condensation freezing in your compressor lines or getting inside the horn housing itself.

Thanks for the link. Definitely a unique sound, and appears damn loud. ~$245 it appears.

I think the one with the non-waterproof amp is a bit cheaper, but that amp has to be mounted inside the cabin and wires run out to the horn unit. I grabbed a link to the waterproofed system because I figured that would be more appropriate for an overland rig.

You can sometimes find those systems on eBay, so possibly look there too.
